In-House Diagnostics

Your pet deserves the best of everything, including veterinary care -- and the first step in delivering that care is discovering the nature and extent of any underlying problems that call for it. Our veterinary team at Como Park Animal Hospital not only has the skills and expertise to recognize a great many ailments on their own, but they also have immediate access to some of the latest tools and technologies in veterinary diagnostic testing.

Our In-House Diagnostic Services

Modern veterinary medicine makes use of a number of highly advanced diagnostic techniques and technologies, but these advanced tools can only be applied to an animal's treatment as quickly as the veterinarian can access them. Maintaining these devices in our own clinic allows for immediate imaging and other testing.

This can make the difference between life and death for a pet suffering from an emergency situation such as a digestive blockage, internal hemorrhaging or cardiac crisis. Even when the situation isn't that urgent, our in-house diagnostics help us provide care more promptly, easily and efficiently -- and the sooner your pet receives that care, the better off he or she will be.

Como Park Animal Hospital provides several advanced in-house diagnostic services to help us help your pet. These in-house diagnostics include:

  • Digital Radiology - Radiology (X-ray imaging) has always been useful for examining bones, foreign objects and other harder structures inside the body. Unfortunately, the traditional photographic method uses a fair amount of radiation and requires time for the plates to develop. Our digital radiology equipment can capture brilliant high-definition images instantly, sending them as data files to a computer screen, while exposing your pet to less radiation. What's more, it's safe, painless and non-invasive.
  • Ultrasound - Ultrasound involves the use of sound waves that reflect off of different densities of tissue in different ways, producing a detailed image of an animal's internal organs and other structures. Ultrasound allows our veterinarian to examine your pet's organ function and see any abnormal masses such as tumors. Since it can also produce real-time moving images, we can observe heart action and other organ function as well as viewing embryos as they move around in the womb.
  • Computerized EKG - An electrocardiogram, also called an EKG or ECG, is a set of readings that measure the electrical activity in an animal's heart. Electrodes attached to your pet pick up data that is recorded in graph form so our vet team can identify cardiac conditions or abnormalities. Our computerized EKG system can upload this data to computers or other data devices for instant access and sharing.
